Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026
1. Who we are
Remembrance LLC (“Remembrance,” “we,” “us”), a Virginia limited liability company, provides the Remembrance memorial platform. This Privacy Policy applies to the Remembrance website, applications, and services (the “Service”).
2. Information we collect
Information you provide:
- Account information such as your name, email address, and password.
- Profile and memorial content you create, including biographies, photos, videos, stories, timelines, guestbook entries, and related details, which may include information about deceased individuals and other people.
- Payment information, which is processed by our payment processor (Stripe). We receive limited billing details (such as a confirmation and card type) but do not store your full card number.
- Communications you send us, such as support requests, and your notification preferences.
Information collected automatically: device and usage data (such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed) and similar information collected through cookies and analytics.
Information from third parties: if you sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email) from that provider, consistent with your settings there.
3. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service and create and display memorials as you direct.
- To process payments and manage the Permanence Fund and your plan.
- To send you service messages and, where you have opted in, notifications by email or SMS (for example, guestbook activity or anniversary reminders).
- To secure the Service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
5. Public memorials and guestbooks
Memorials and guestbook entries you mark as public may be viewable by anyone and may be indexed by search engines. You control visibility settings for content you create; please consider what you and your contributors choose to make public.
7. Data retention
Because Remembrance is designed to preserve memorials over the long term, memorial content is retained for as long as the memorial remains active on the Service. We retain account and other personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate legal, security, and business purposes. You may request deletion as described below; note that removing certain information may limit or end your ability to use the Service or a memorial. We do not guarantee that any content will be retained or remain available indefinitely.
8. Your choices and rights
You can access and update your account information in your settings, adjust notification preferences, and unsubscribe from marketing email or reply STOP to SMS messages. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing:
- California residents (CCPA/CPRA) have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
- EU/UK residents (GDPR/UK GDPR) have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection.
To exercise any right, contact us at privacy@remembrance.io. We will respond consistent with applicable law and may need to verify your identity.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Memorials may commemorate deceased individuals of any age, but accounts must be created and managed by adults. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. International users
Remembrance is operated from the United States, and your information may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to jurisdictions with different data-protection laws than your own.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
